Artist's Comments

I'm not quite satisfied with this one yet, but I feel I should post it and let everyone see my progress. I do need to give lots of appreciation for the person I got my stock image from, s-horizon...excellent job on the stock photo, such an excellent medium to work with. Enjoy

Indeed I like what you did with the photo of the feather :)
it looks deep and emotionful!

wow dude....nice work on the feather. The overall look was done really well. How the feather just kinda bleeds into the picture from the darkness was well done. and the text was well laced as well. Plus I'm also fond of the boarder. If your still going to add stuff, I wouldn't add too much. Adding to many things can make it lose it's overall feel, being subtle is always a good thing. But great job man! ;)

The text is hard to read on the far left. Other than that, its good design work.

i like the border. i concur it may be hard to read simply because it crosses onto the white, but it doesn't ruin the piece.

Thats cool man.
Nietzsche was a dude.
The feather an border look great but the text on the left does need sorting.
Maybe just flip the colours.
Should work.
Good stuff.

Yes, the text is meant to be like that, to me it holds a certain symbolism with how people tend not to be able to understand Nietzsche and how he has been wrongly translated over the decades...I guess maybe that was too deep for everyone to grasp.

Nah I guessed that was why but it still looks a bit odd that's all.
With the text being from an editor's preface and actually shedding at least a little light on Nietzsche, obscuring white in white may not be the best way to convey the message.
Personally, I'd have found a few different sources of writing about the man then overlayed them and experimented with opacity to portray the confusion shrouding his work and highlight how hard it is to find the truth amidst opinions.
It's early an I'm not expressing myself very well but I hope you got what I meant.
Still think the piece is cool, it's just a thought that's all.

Since you're not satisfied with this I hope you don't mind some suggestions. The text for me seems hard to read, as the white border covers it up. I'd also explore using alpha channels in Photoshop for creating textures, you might get something you like from that. Also, the text seems blurry and soft (which may of been on purpose) but Nietzsche gives me more of a sharp jagged feel. Text that has been degraded and and thrown with noise like after a Dionysis cult party or after fall of God. Overall though, nice work and keep at it.

thats an awesome concept...as a fan of his writing and this overall presentation..I must fav...great job!
